If this is your first introduction to the Thoroughbred Performance Analyzer, we suggest you download and install the TP Analyzer . Once you have done this, we suggest you review the illustrated "help content file" that is included in the current install. This "help content" file can answer most all your questions you might have. If you would like to review these Help files without installing the Software, use the following link. HELP FILES . If you need any additional inquiries simply email support@tpanalyzer.com . Another option to learn more about the

Data Files
The TP Analyzer was exclusively designed to use "DRF single comma delimited data files" . Brisnet and Trackmaster data files are compatible with the TP Analyzer . We do however, recommend BRISNET data files as they contain much value added data. Those files can be downloaded at BRISNET DATA FILES . Once again, these are the least expensive ( $1) data file available. You will need to register as a Brisnet member to download these files. There is no cost to register and you are only charged for the race card reports you download. If you have any questions concerning data files email support@tpanalyzer.com .

USING THE TPA GRADED SELECTIONS

This is where you will find tips on how to best use the TPA Graded Selections Handicapping Reports!

First of all, you can't go too wrong by trusting the overall grading of the TP Analyzer. When the analyzer's Top Selection
is tops in all three categories PACE, FINISH and RACE you can be sure of one thing.....either you can
wager on this horse with confidence or there is a PP Lines in this horse's Past performances that is generating
inflated ratings. The former is the most common reason, by far.
If the Top few Graded Selections are only separated by a few index points, this race is wide open. Give the edge to
the horse with the overall higher category ratings with more weight given RACE. In TURF races always give the edge to the BEST
FINISH grading or the horse that is offering more value at the windows. Try to wager less or not at all in Maiden races with two or
more starters that are unraced.
On an off track, give the edge to the better PACE and RACE horses. All other surfaces, the best FINISH horse rates a small
edge. In exotic wagering don't overlook the TOP Rated PACE, FINISH or RACE horse even if that horse is not in the
top few Graded Horses.
If a horse looks too good in the Graded Ratings, make sure there is good Past Performance data to back that good rating up.
Races with large fields offer the Best value and are actually more consistent in handicapping than very small fields.
Pay attention to "suspect class droppers" and don't wager on any that are at going off at short odds. Look for value elsewhere,
or pass.
Be aware of hot jockeys. If he or she is on a horse with a TOP or HIGH rating in any Category, PACE,FINISH or RACE a play
is justified.
If a horse only has TURF Past Performances and is one of the TOP rated horse on the Main track today, proceed with caution.
Finally, try to wager with some rhythm, so your are not zinging when you should have sagged. Maybe a wagering rule or two on
what kind of races to wager on. Less on Maiden and lower allowances races, more on Higher Claiming and Stake races.

Use this as a guide not as a Bible. Wager more when your HOT and LESS when your not !

Good Luck to all

Fourm Notes
As most of you know, the thoroughbred racing industry is in a state of some transition. Race tracks are experimenting with various track surfaces. AWD's are in fierce competition for signal rights. Drug usage is under the microscope and many race tracks are struggling to fill their starting gates with horses. But this too will pass and Sport of Kings hopefully will be better for it. We recommend you occasionlly check in with our friends at the "Derby List" forum. Your input is always welcome there. From time to time, we publish some complimentary race reports for that forum at our Derby List page.
